    • All profits will go back to BCS or a charity of student choice.

  • All week:  The Dad’s Club has canceled their BBQ fundraiser due to weather concerns. Please contact them about refunds:  [email protected]. They plan to hold it during the next school year on October 19th.

  • Through Friday March 8:  Box Tops Contest—The class with the most Box Tops wins a PICNIC with MR. HEINZE and their teacher wins a $50 Amazon gift card!   • Tuesday 5-6:30pm:  5th Grade Southwest Middle School Open House—for 5th graders looking for a small middle school other than BCS. Dinner at 5:00, presentation at 5:30. This is at 6400 Westpark, not at BCS.
  • Wednesday 6-7:30pm:  Monthly PTO Meeting—anyone interested in learning what’s happening at BCS or helping is welcome.
  • Thursday:  PreK field trip
  • Thursday 3:45-5:30pm:  Origami After School with Mr. Vasquez

Boosterthon Fun Run Fundraiser

ATTENTION all BCS Students, Teachers and Parents:

We are excited to host Boosterthon for our Spring fundraiser fun run. Boosterthon specializes in integrating fitness, leadership, and character while fundraising into a fun school-wide event.

It will be held at Briarmeadow in our school field. Family and friends from anywhere in the world can participate and support Briarmeadow by giving pledges towards the number of laps your child runs or walks. Every student can participate despite financial participation. Family and friends are also invited to come and cheer during the event.

We will have a pep rally on February 4 to kick off the event.

The fun runs will be held on February 13.

  • Monday:  No School for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
  • Tuesday:  Souper Bowl of Caring food drive begins, students are asked to bring 2 nonperishable items, if they are able. Classrooms that collect donations equal to two times their headcount will earn a free dress day. (For example, if a classroom with 20 students collects at least 40 items, they will earn a free dress day.)

Fall Festival Volunteers Needed (31 Slots)

Our Fall Festival is in three days on Saturday November 3rd 10am-2pm. Thank you so much to the families and classrooms that have filled their 8 one-hour volunteer sign-up slots. Those classrooms have earned a popsicle party for the students! Pre-K and Kinder are receiving their popsicles today.

31 slots remain open in First – Fifth grades. Please see below for the class count. We need these slots filled to make the Fall Festival a success. Classrooms that are full by Friday will earn a popsicle party. If your classroom is not full, please sign-up to help. If your classroom is full and you can help, please sign up for any open slot.

Fall Festival Early Bird Pricing Ends Today

Wednesday October 31 is the last day to order Fall Festival Bronco Bracelets at the $30 early bird price ($35 regular price). Please order your bracelets, tickets, and meal tickets. They will be delivered to your student on Friday and you won’t have to wait in line at the Festival.

  • Fall Festival Volunteer Sign-up:  45 (30%) of our volunteer spots are unfilled. We need your help please! Each classroom has a booth/activity to staff with eight volunteers for one hour each on Saturday. Please check the sign-up to see your classroom’s booth/activity and sign-up for a volunteer shift. Your classroom appears four times (10am, 11am, 12pm, and 1pm) and all slots must be filled. Click all the way through until your sign-up is confirmed. Classrooms who fill their eight spots by Wednesday earn a popsicle party for the students!

Parent Information Meeting Video

Parent Information Meeting on Facebook Live

This morning we broadcast most of the Parent Information Meeting on Facebook Live, but missed the beginning. Hopefully next time we’ll get the whole meeting.  The first part of the meeting is about dyslexia; the second part is about our Fall Festival; at the end we circle back to dyslexia and constructivist learning. If you’d like to watch it, the meeting video will remain on our Facebook page for the next week.

You can watch it on Facebook, even if you don’t have a Facebook account. Go to our page and look for the video pinned toward the top of the page: www.facebook.com/bcspto. Click “Not Now” when Facebook asks you to create an account, scroll down until you see the video, and click on play.

Volunteering

Register as a Volunteer in Public Schools (VIPS)

  1. Register online  at houstonisd.org/vips (Last year it was a paper form.) AND
  2. Present your photo ID at the Front Desk to scan into the Raptor system.
  • If you don’t have access to a computer or smartphone, you may use the computers in the school lobby when you’re here (drop off, lunch time, pick up, etc.).
  • We need everyone to register now please to allow time for your background checks—especially volunteers at the Fall Festival on November 3.
  • You cannot help in the classroom, volunteer, or chaperone field trips unless you’re registered with VIPS and your annual background check has been completed.
  • If you’re unsure if you are cleared in VIPS, please check with the Front Desk.
  • Thank you for helping make Briarmeadow a great school for our kids!
