  • Tuesday 9am-2pm:  Elementary Field Day
    • Elementary students should wear athletic wear (shorts, etc.) and shoes. They do not need to come in uniform.
    • Apply sunscreen on students before school
    • Visitors sign in and out at the front desk
    • Lunch will be in the cafeteria as usual
    • (Middle School had their field day in the fall)
  • Tuesday 9am-2:40pm:  International Day
    • Volunteers need to have their booths set up before 9am
    • 9am-2pm:  Elementary students
    • 2-2:40pm:  Middle School students
    • Visitors sign in and out at the front desk
  • Tuesday 4-10pm:  Family Night Out at Raising Cane’s—7531 Westheimer Road. 15% of proceeds will go to BCS. Be sure to mention Briarmeadow when you order or bring the flyer.
  • Wednesday:  4th Grade Field Trip to Zoo
  • Wednesday 8:45am:  1st Grade end of year ceremony, student-led conferences, and pot luck lunch
  • Wednesday after school by invitation:  Kids’ Hope mentoring program book event
  • Wednesday 4:15pm:  Gymnastics gold medal ceremony
  • Thursday 8:45am:  Kindergarten end of year ceremony, student-led conferences, and party
  • Thursday 4-5:30pm:  Bender 5th grade student-led conferences
  • Friday 9:00am:  PreK end of year ceremony and student-led conferences
  • Friday:  8th grade end of year ceremony by invitation only. See invitation for timing.

 

Next Week

  • Monday May 27:  No school on Memorial Day
  • Tuesday May 28 8:45am:  4th grade end of year ceremony and student-led conferences
  • Tuesday May 28 9:30-11:10am, 12:30-12:50pm, & 2:00-3:45pm:  Market hosted by 3rd grade
    • Third grade will be creating and running a market on Tuesday, May 28th from 9:30-11:10, 12:30-12:50, and 2:00-3:45.
    • The students will be selling rice krispie treats, slime, jewelry, key chains, sugar scrub and bath bombs for $1-$2 each.
    • All profits will go back to BCS or a charity of student choice.
    • Please send your students to school with some pocket money (up to $3) and/or stop by to support our future entrepreneurs!
  • Tuesday May 28 2:00pm:  2nd grade end of year ceremony and student-led conferences
  • Wednesday May 29 8:45am:  3rd grade end of year ceremony and student-led conferences
  • Wednesday May 29 11:00am:  3rd grade party (rescheduled from old 1:00pm to new 11:00am time)
  • Wednesday May 29 2:00pm:  6th grade end of year ceremony
  • Thursday May 30 8:30am:  DéDé & Russo 5th grade student-led conferences
  • Thursday May 30 9:30am:  5th grade end of year ceremony
  • Thursday May 30 11:30am:  PreK party
  • Thursday May 30 12noon:  2nd grade party
  • Thursday May 30 12:30pm:  4th grade party/lunch

  • All week:  The Dad’s Club has canceled their BBQ fundraiser due to weather concerns. Please contact them about refunds:  [email protected]. They plan to hold it during the next school year on October 19th.
  • All week:  See LivingTree for STAAR water & snack donation sign up.
  • Tuesday-Friday until further notice:  Closed campus for STAAR testing. Briarmeadow will be closed to all parents and visitors. This includes the cafeteria. Parents may not go past the lobby before school and cannot remain on campus once school begins.
  • Tuesday:  STAAR 8th Grade Algebra
  • Wednesday:  National School Nurse’s Day
  • Wednesday 6-7:30pm:  Dad’s Club meeting at Mike’s Ice House
  • Thursday 6pm:  Sports Banquet

This Week

  • Now through April 12:  On-line sales of Earth Day picnic wristbands
  • Now through April 20:  Scholastic book fair on-line
  • All week:  Closed campus for STAAR testing. Briarmeadow will be closed to all parents and visitors. This includes the cafeteria. Parents may not go past the lobby before school and cannot remain on campus once school begins.
  • Tuesday April 9:  Kinder Field Trip– Urban Farming
  • Wednesday April 10:  PK Field Trip– Children’s Museum
  • Wednesday April 10:  1st Grade Field Trip– Houston Arboretum

  • Earth Day Picnic Planning:
    • We need your help with picnic donations. Bring donations to the lobby or carpool drop off from April 11-16:
      • PreK – 1st Grade: Desserts-grocery store bakery cookies, brownies, etc. (no nuts please)
      • 2nd – 4th Grade: Chips-individually wrapped
      • 5th – 8th Grade: Drinks-juice boxes/pouches, water, soda
  • Mrs. Lucas has a new Donors Choose Project for flexible classroom seating. Please share her project with anyone who might donate.

  • Now through Friday 7pm or until buy-it-now:  On-line auction to name Stinkerbelle’s two newborn goats
  • All Week:  Bring bottled water and nut-free dry snack donations for STAAR testing.  See signup on Livingtree.
  • Monday:  1st Grade field trip to see Aesop’s Fables play
  • Monday 5-6pm:  Family Learning Academy—Sign up/RSVP
  • Tuesday:  World Autism Awareness Day—Light it up blue:  Students who come to school wearing light blue for autism awareness may come in free dress. Students who do not dress for the theme should wear uniforms.
  • Tuesday 8:30-11:30am:  Teacher Appreciation Week Decorations—It’s time to show our appreciation for our fabulous teachers and staff! Teacher Appreciation Week is April 22-26, and the PTO needs your help NOW to decorate our school. Please sign-up to let us know you’re coming. Sign up for as many time slots as you’d like. Be sure to click all the way through until your sign up is confirmed.
  • Tuesday 12:30-3:15pm:  Teacher Appreciation Week decorations.
  • Wednesday 6-7:30pm:  Monthly PTO Meeting—All parents and teachers are welcome. To learn more about what we do and how you can help, please see this flyer or come to the meeting.

  • All Week:  Earth Day t-shirts are available to order by paper form (cash) or on-line in our PTO store (credit card). T-shirt orders and all on-line picnic wristband orders are due by Friday March 29.
  • Monday-Thursday:  8th Grade trip to DC. Be at school before the bus departs at 4:30am on Monday.
  • Monday:  Teachers are sending home report cards today, if they didn’t already on Friday.
  • Tuesday-Wednesday:  5th Grade overnight camp
  • Tuesday 4-9pm:  Family Night Out at Molina’s Cantina—dine at Molina’s for dinner, mention Briarmeadow or show the flyer, and 20% goes back to BCS! http://www.molinascantina.com/
  • Tuesday night:  PTO Volunteer Info & Round-Up—chat with our board and committee members to learn about our committees and volunteering for next year. See the flyer and come find us at Molina’s.
  • Wednesday 8:30-11:30am:  Teacher Appreciation Week Decorations—It’s time to show our appreciation for our fabulous teachers and staff!   • Through Friday March 8:  Box Tops Contest—The class with the most Box Tops wins a PICNIC with MR. HEINZE and their teacher wins a $50 Amazon gift card!   • Monday 6-6:30pm:  8th Grade Parent Meeting
  • Tuesday 5-6:30pm:  5th Grade Southwest Middle School Open House—for 5th graders looking for a small middle school other than BCS. Dinner at 5:00, presentation at 5:30. This is at 6400 Westpark, not at BCS.
  • Wednesday 6-7:30pm:  Monthly PTO Meeting—anyone interested in learning what’s happening at BCS or helping is welcome.
  • Thursday:  PreK field trip
  • Thursday 3:45-5:30pm:  Origami After School with Mr. Vasquez
  • Friday:  Elementary Field Day (PK-5th)—Please see your teacher or room parent for volunteer needs. Students should wear athletic shoes and may wear athletic attire to school–look for specific guidance from Mr. Heinze. Please put sunscreen on your students, as they will be outside more than usual.
  • Friday:  Due date for re-enrollment forms for ALL returning students, except 5th grade, to save your spot for next year. See Livingtree for details.
  • Friday:  Last day to buy yearbook ads

  • Monday:  K-5 report cards go home.
  • Tuesday 8am-4pm:  6th Grade field trip to Renaissance Festival.
  • Tuesday:  5th Grade families—applications for BCS Middle School are available.
  • Wednesday:  School picture day (yearbook photos). Students should wear uniforms (NOT Briarmeadow T-shirts).
  • Wednesday:  5th Grade CogAT Gifted & Talented testing.
  • Wednesday 6-7:30pm:  Monthly PTO meeting.
  • Thursday 4-6pm:  Middle School Game Night $5 at the door.
  • Friday:  Fun Food Friday for Grades 5-8.
  • Friday:  Early Dismissal—PK at 12:45pm; K–4 at 1:00pm; 5–8 at 1:15pm.

This Week at BCS: October 1

  • Monday:  Free dress for students who WEAR PINK for breast cancer awareness. Students who do not wear pink should come in uniform.
  • Tuesday:  National Custodian’s Day—Thank you, Mr. Rey and Ms. Domitila!
  • Tuesday 3:45-4:45:  First weekly Name That Book team meeting for 3rd-5th Grades
  • Wednesday:  4th Grade field trip to HMNS—remember chaperones MUST already be cleared in VIPS. Adults who have not completed the background check for the current school year cannot chaperone the field trip and cannot meet the students at the museum.
  • Wednesday 5:30-6:00 PM:  Fall Festival Planning Meeting—We need lots of help and volunteers to plan the Fall Festival. Please bring your ideas to our meeting.
  • Wednesday 6:00-7:30PM:  Monthly PTO Meeting—We need you! All parents and caregivers are invited to the PTO meeting to see how you can help and volunteer.
